UWF Men No. 1, Lynn Lead Florida Women in NCAA Div. II Tennis Rankings
The University of West Florida men garnered the top spot in the first ITA Division II National Team Rankings of 2015. The Argonauts have held the top spot since March 2014.
St. Leo University (located north of Tampa) earned a No. 8 ranking, a six-spot increase, with a 4-1 start which included a win over previously No. 7 Lynn University (Boca Raton), which fell to No. 9.
The Lynn women lead all Florida schools at No. 5, and the West Florida women No. 7.
Also making noise in the women’s rankings is Nova Southeastern (Ft. Lauderdale_, which climbed 25 spots to earn its place at No. 10. The Sharks posted upsets of No. 15 Valdosta State and No. 30 Flagler en route to a 5-0 start. The No. 10 spot was vacated by Florida Southern, whose 1-2 start sent the Mocs tumbling to No. 45.
The Rollins College men are No. 13 and the women No. 9. West Florida, Lynn and Rollins are three of 16 total Division II Florida schools with both their man’s and women’s teams in the Top 25 rankings.
Palm Beach Atlantic entered the women’s rankings at No. 32.
The ITA Division II National Rankings will be published again on March 25, and will include team, singles and doubles rankings.
