In alignment with USTA Florida’s strategic initiative to work with industry partners to attract new coaches and provide existing coaches with resources to serve all consumers, The USTA Florida Section and Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) have signed an agreement that will see the two grow the game of tennis together.
PTR has agreed to support and continue to grow USTA Florida programs and initiatives. These include Safe Play/Safe Sport, Youth Play, Adult Play, and Community Programs such as adaptive, wheelchair, and other events.
Both organizations have also committed to embracing and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. This includes growing the PTRW/Women in Tennis Movement, which is aimed toward seeing women succeed both on the court and on the business side of tennis.
USTA Florida and PTR reached an agreement to promote tennis.
This month, USTA Florida looks to take its first steps towards contributing to this partnership by committing to scholarships for women coaches to attend the PTRW Coaching Summit in Bradenton, FL held at IMG Academy from September 23 – 25. USTA Florida’s Executive Director, Laura Bowen will also be a guest speaker at the event.
Another part is the AMPLIFY/Advancing the Commitment to Education (ACE) program. Here, PTR will support USTA Florida’s AMPLIFY initiative, while actively looking to recruit coaches of all ages and ethnicities. USTA Florida will also be working to provide opportunities for Florida coaches of color and young coaches to speak at meetings and events.
USTA Florida and PTR have each allocated budgets to help advance their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion initiatives with a focus on women, coaches of color, and the young coaches initiatives.
Additionally, PTR and USTA Florida will work together to expand and implement educational opportunities that are accessible, and innovative. These will help bring more coaches into the tennis space and will focus on recruiting and training community coaches in each region of the state.
Both USTA Florida and PTR will give each other exposure on any communications platforms needed. USTA Florida Board Members will start attending PTR meetings and provide speakers to support the growth of tennis within the state.
This two year agreement was signed at this year’s US Open in New York.
