USTA Florida Presenting Sponsor for ATA 3rd Annual ACE Awards and Gala

AMPLIFY General News Diversity

USTA Florida is proudly the presenting sponsor of the ATA 3rd Annual ACE Awards and Gala. This event will take place on Thursday, July 18th, at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The evening promises to be a memorable celebration, with a cocktail reception followed by a dinner and award ceremony, highlighting significant figures and organizations in the tennis community.

The American Tennis Association was founded back in 1916 and has been living out its mission to promote tennis to Black communities around the world, while also encouraging people of all backgrounds to get involved.

The ATA was founded in 1916 and has been serving the Black community and welcoming all to tennis.

“The ATA is so important to the tennis community, especially in Florida, because for many years blacks and other minorities weren’t accepted into the mainstream of tennis” George Henry, a member of the USTA Florida AMPLIFY Project team said. “The ATA also serves as a venue for many players to hone and develop their skills to compete at a high level.” The ATA has been a beacon of opportunity and growth for minority players, providing a platform for excellence and inclusion.

The 2024 ATA ACE Awards are a hallmark of recognition within the tennis community, celebrating individuals and organizations that have made significant strides in promoting inclusivity and equality in tennis. The awards highlight those who have effectively leveraged the diverse attributes of tennis to host a more inclusive environment within the sport.

One award being presented is the President’s Partnership Recognition Award, which honors a person or organization that has demonstrated exemplary dedication, collaboration, and outstanding contributions to fostering partnerships and driving impactful initiatives within the tennis community.

The ATA impacts the lives of many players throughout the world.

For USTA Florida, being the presenting sponsor of this event is rooted in the relationship between the two organizations who share similar goals to promote tennis for all. “We decided to be a presenting sponsor because for several years the ATA has made its home for the National Tournament here in Florida,” Henry said. “USTA Florida is proud to support the ATA’s mission of promoting inclusivity and equality in tennis.”

This sponsorship not only celebrates the achievements of the past but also looks forward to a future where tennis continues to break barriers and foster a sense of community and equality.

The 2024 ATA National Championships are set to take place July 22 – 28 at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona. There are five major tennis events with players ranging from under 10 all the way to over 80 years old. The ATA Championships draw players from all over North America and the Caribbean.

The ATA’s role in the tennis world cannot be overstated. For decades, the ATA has been at the forefront of promoting diversity and providing opportunities for players of all backgrounds. Their work ensures that the sport of tennis remains a vibrant and inclusive community where everyone has the chance to shine.

The ATA National Championships will be held at the USTA National Campus.

The 2024 ATA ACE Awards and Gala is more than just an event; it is a celebration of progress, dedication, and the unyielding spirit of inclusivity. USTA Florida and the ATA invite everyone to join in this celebration. By attending, you are not only supporting the honorees and the mission of the ATA but also contributing to the ongoing effort to create a more inclusive and equitable tennis community.
