General News Adult Tennis News

The United States Tennis Association national body is offering a Fellowship in Professional Coaching to train the next generation of leaders in tennis coaching and related fields through an integrative approach that focuses on the philosophy and framework of high performance coaching.

The fellowship builds on USTA Professional Development’s strength and experience to educate a new generation of tennis professionals. The fellowship is structured to provide significant experiential training and opportunity for independent research in the field of professional tennis coaching not typically available to someone at the entry level.

Fellows will become fully immersed in USTA Player Development through weekly gatherings with P.D. staff and coaches, and through the examination of issues currently affecting American tennis.

Candidate must be a recent college graduate (having graduated in 2010 or later), or graduating in Spring 2015 and interested in a career in coaching tennis. Fellow must be a former varsity collegiate tennis player or have demonstrable knowledge and experience in the sport of tennis. Fellowships are based at USTA Player Development Headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla. Housing expenses are not provided.

A stipend of $4,000 plus travel expenses is provided to observe and participate in the operations of USTA Professional Development at all P.D. training centers. The fellowship will last approximately 11 weeks from mid-June to early September.
