University of Miami Wins Tennis on Campus Sectional Championship; Books Trip to Rome

USTA Florida hosted the highly anticipated 2025 Tennis on Campus Sectional Championships on February 22-23 at the USTA National Campus, bringing together some of the top collegiate club tennis teams in the state. The event featured nine unique schools and 20 competitive teams, with nearly 150 players battling for a coveted spot at Nationals. 

With the University of Florida having already secured its place at Nationals by winning the Fall Invitational, the pressure was on for other teams to claim their ticket. The competition was fierce, with teams showcasing their skills, teamwork, and passion for the game across two days of intense match play. 

The Gold Bracket final saw an exciting showdown between the University of Miami and the University of Central Florida. Miami dominated the match, securing a 26-16 victory and punching their ticket to Nationals. USTA Florida also had an additional Nationals bid on the line, meaning UCF also earned a well-deserved spot at the national tournament as the Sectional Championship finalist. 

In the Silver Bracket, the competition was just as intense. The University of Miami’s B team edged out the University of Tampa’s A team in a thrilling final, winning by just one point. The close score highlighted the depth of talent and level of competition present throughout the tournament. 

The energy at this year’s Sectional Championships was incredible with so many passionate players and competitive teams, it was exciting to see Tennis on Campus continue to thrive in Florida. 

With Miami and UCF officially joining UF in securing spots at Nationals, all eyes now turn to the next stage of the season. The teams will continue training and preparing for their shot at national glory. The National Championship will take place in Rome, Georgia on April 3 through April 5.
