University of Florida Club Tennis Team to Host Open Team Event
The University of Florida club tennis team will host an event open to all players, the “UF Tennis-On-Campus Warmup” on Aug. 19-20, 2017 at the Flavet Courts on Woodlawn Drive on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville.
“Teams will consist of four players each, two men and two women, and matches will include two singles, two doubles, and one mixed doubles, liable to change depending on number of participants,” says Tournament Director Shiv Krishnaswamy. “You can sign up with your fellow teammates, or if you don’t have teammates, we will be sure to pair you with three other players.”
Saturday will be a round robin between group teams, and Sunday will be a single-elimination draw for the playoffs. Time permitting there will be a consolation draw. The event will use the World TeamTennis format.
“The WTT format will provide everyone with a high octane, competitive format that will get players out of their comfort zone, but also allow them to meet and form friendships with like-minded individuals who love tennis,” Krishnaswamy says.
Entry for the event closes on Aug. 17 at 11:59 p.m. Entry is open to USTA members, USTA members who have an expired membership, and non-USTA members.
