University of Florida Club Dominates Final at 2016 ‘Tennis on Campus’ UF Gatorbowl
The University of Florida’s club tennis team dominated its home turf last weekend at the UF Gatorbowl in Gainesville, where the UF-“A” team beat the UF-“B” team in the Gold Bracket final among nine participating colleges and universities.

[/column] [column md=”6″] [/column] [/row]It was the second tournament of the USTA Florida ‘Tennis on Campus’ circuit for college club teams, following the University of Central Florida’s win earlier in the month at the University of Miami-hosted Ibis Open in Coral Gables.
UF and UM dominated the semifinals as the UF-“A” team in their semifinal defeated the UM-“B” team, while the UF-“B” team in their semifinals topped the UM-“A” squad.
In the Silver Bracket final the University of South Florida-“A” team beat the USF-“B” team, and in the Bronze Bracket final the Florida Gulf Coast University-“B” team defeated the USF-“C” team.

Other participants, with a total of 32 teams among the nine schools, were the University of Miami, University of Central Florida, University of North Florida, Florida State University, Florida Atlantic University, and first-time participant Santa Fe College of Gainesville.
It was the first tournament of the year for the defending section champion Gators, who did not compete in the season-opening UM Ibis Open. Next up on the Florida Tennis on Campus schedule is the USF Bull Run in Tampa on Oct. 22-23.

About USTA Tennis On Campus
The USTA’s Tennis On Campus program is designed to provide college students with opportunities for team camaraderie, social networking, and rivaled competition through tennis without the rigors of a NCAA varsity program. Tennis On Campus offers fun co-ed team-based play (using the World TeamTennis scoring format), regional and national championship competition, and helps students maintain active and healthy lifestyles through their college years. Currently the program is offered on more than 500 college campuses. The USTA Tennis on Campus team format features men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with a minimum of two men and two women per team.
The USTA Florida Tennis on Campus wraps up each school season with the Florida championships and a chance for teams to advance to the USTA Tennis on Campus National Championships.
