ROGY Tennis Features Fun in Miramar Beach, Fla.

ROGY Tourn-Events Youth Tennis News

TOPS’L Beach & Racquet Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla., had kids playing in a no-pressure non-elimination setting when they hosted a USTA Florida ROGY (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow ball progression) on Sept. 27, 2014.

“With the fall weather and cooler temperatures it is a great time to ROGY here in the Panhandle,” said TOPS’L Director of Tennis Joe D’Aleo. “We had a great group of kids on Saturday afternoon and coaches to run a fun-filled event for our local young tennis players. With music playing in the background and plenty of USTA Florida gifts for all the kids, everyone had a great afternoon of getting to learn all aspects of the game a little better, and most importantly have fun with a no pressure non elimination format.”

Participants enjoyed ice cream and drinks at the end of the event, and refreshments for parents also, with an awards ceremony capping the festivities.

“Everyone got a ROGY medal with some fun awards of Fastest Feet, Best Serve, and my favorite, the Sportsmanship Award,” D’Aleo said. “I would like to thank all the coaches that volunteered their time to monitor courts — Ken Petty, Melissa Young, Tyler Marengo, Sam Vickroy, and Jessica D’Aleo, as well as USTA Florida for providing the resources to help grow early development in our junior tennis players.”

ROGY is a fun, new way for youth tennis players to gain experience on the court by playing non-elimination matches in a three-hour “Tourn-Event.” Using the USTA Youth Tennis format, kids play in a no-pressure environment with equipment sized right for children.
