Querrey, Defending ATP Delray Beach Open Champ, Accepts Wild Card for 2017

Delray Beach Open reigning champion Sam Querrey has accepted a wild card into the upcoming 2017 tournament, joining four other former champions in their quest of their second title at the ATP World Tour event.

The 10-day event is coming up Feb. 17-26, with ATP World Tour play scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 20 at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center. Querrey will defend his 2016 crown against former champs Ivo Karlovic (2015), Kevin Anderson (2012), Juan Martin del Potro (2011) and Tommy Haas (2006) in the 32-player ATP World Tour field.

The 29-year-old Querrey is making his ninth appearance in Delray Beach where he is 13-7. He also reached the semifinals in 2008 and the quarterfinals in 2007. He is currently ranked No. 27 in the world. In addition to the five returning champions, the 2016 Delray Beach field will be co-headlined by top seed and world No. 4 Milos Raonic, and also includes Americans Jack Sock, Taylor Fritz, Ryan Harrison, Steve Johnson and Donald Young.

The Bryan Brothers lead the 16-team doubles draw, which includes the 2016 Delray Beach doubles champion team of Oliver Marach of Austria and Fabrice Martin of France. The Bryans are going for a fifth Delray Beach title.

The 10-day Delray Beach Open also includes an ATP Champions Tour event featuring six former tennis stars playing in a Team USA vs. Team International format over President’s weekend (Friday, Feb. 17-Sunday, Feb. 19).
