The 29th annual Eddie Herr International Junior Tennis Championships will be held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., on Nov. 25-Dec. 6, 2015, where future tour champions will be determined in age groups 12-18.
Possibly the largest draw in the history of the event will take place in less than a week’s time when more than 1,500 players from nearly 90 countries compete for one of the top titles in junior tennis. Thirty-three of the ITF Top 100-ranked juniors are expected to compete in the Boys’ 18s division, and 37 of the ITF Top 100-ranked girls in the Girls’ 18s division.
The Boys’ 18s division will feature 2013 Eddie Herr Boys 14s champion Miomir Kecmanovic, who is looking to improve on last year’s quarterfinals run where he fell to eventual champion Reilly Opelka.
In the Girls’ 18s division, reigning ITF No. 1-ranked Dalma Galfi (Hungary) will return to defend her 2014 Girls’ 18s title. She may have to get through another top Hungarian, Fanni Stollar, ranked No. 7. Stollar and Galfi teamed up to win the 2015 Wimbledon Junior Doubles Championship, the first all-Hungarian duo to achieve a Grand Slam junior doubles title.
The Eddie Herr event has been a springboard into tennis stardom for past champions such as former world No. 1s Maria Sharapova (2000), Marcelos Rios (1993), Andy Roddick (1999) and Jelena Jankovic (2001), just to name a few.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. Qualification rounds begin on Wednesday, Nov. 25. The first round of main draw will begin on Monday, Dec. 1, with the singles finals to take place Sunday, Dec. 6.
