Hillsborough County is a four-time defending champion this weekend among the top Mixed 40 & Over tennis teams competing at the USTA Florida Mixed 40 & Over League Sectional Championships, to be held May 15-17, 2015 at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.
Hillsborough County’s dominant run at the Mixed 8.0 level over the last four years has included wins by teams:
2014 — Hillsborough (Lake Padgett Bath & Racquet Club, Land O’ Lakes)
2013 — Hillsborough (Hampton Park, Tampa)
2012 — Hillsborough (Hampton Park, Tampa)
2011 — Hillsborough (Apollo Beach Racquet & Fitness, Apollo Beach)
Escambia County (Gulf Breeze) is the two-time champion at the Mixed 7.0 level, where the Club II team has captured the title from 2013-14. Pinellas County is the defending champ at the Mixed 9.0 level.
The USTA Florida Mixed 40 & Over League Sectional Championships will include local league champions from (in alphabetical order) Alachua, Brevard, Broward, Collier, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Indian River/Martin/St. Lucie, Lee/Charlotte, Leon, Marion, Miami-Dade (South), Okaloosa/Walton/Bay, Orange/Seminole, Palm Beach (North), Palm Beach (South), Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota/Manatee, and Volusia/Flagler counties.
Teams consisting of three doubles lines will compete in a non-elimination round-robin format. The winner of each flight/level will be determined by team matches won. The winner of each flight will then advance into a single-elimination semifinal followed by the final.

The mixed 6.0 and 8.0 level winners from Florida will advance to the USTA League Mixed 40 & Over 6.0 & 8.0 National Championships, held Nov. 13-15, 2015 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
The mixed 7.0 and 9.0 level winners from Florida will advance to the USTA League Mixed 40 & Over 7.0 & 9.0 National Championships, held Nov. 20-22, 2015 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
