Ponte Vedra Beach to Host ‘Triples’ Tennis Cancer Charity ‘Kate Cup’ Tournament in April
A family-friendly Triples Tennis Tournament charity fundraiser, the Kate Kup, will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Oak Bridge Tennis Club at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
“Someone put it as ‘Wimbledon meets Mardi Gras,'” said Tennis Facility and Membership Director Belinda Macek. “Teams are in costume, in a fast-paced tennis environment, and the main motto is fun.”
Funds raised will benefit childhood cancer research.
Registration of $600 per team includes complimentary admission to the VIP Kickoff Party, a swag bag, lunch and beverages during the tournament, and a generous donation to support pediatric cancer research. The VIP Kickoff Party for participants 18 and older will be held on Friday, April 5 from 6-10 p.m. at the 3 Palms Grille at Oak Bridge.
Each team consists of three players, and games are quick-paced to 21 with three players on each side of the court. Once the ball is fed into play, all players can move anywhere on the court. There are no restrictions on who can take what shot, or where you stand on your side of the court.
Divisions will be for teams rated with players 3.0 and below, and for players and teams 3.5 and above. Admission is free for spectators, and food will be provided by TacoLu. There will be adult beverage tents, and a Kidzone with an ice cream truck, face painting, balloon artist, games and more.
The tournament is presented by the Kate Amato Foundation, which is dedicated to finding safer, smarter and more effective treatments for children with cancer. The mission is to fund innovative pediatric cancer research that accelerates the pace of progress and saves young lives.
