In the world of tennis, certain individuals shine bright with their dedication, passion, and selflessness. This month, USTA Florida is thrilled to shine the spotlight on Judith Kolbert, a remarkable volunteer from Palm Beach County, whose commitment to the sport is creating a positive impact on her community.

For over a decade, Judith has been a driving force behind the scenes, contributing her time and energy to various tennis events across both Florida and North Carolina. Prior to becoming vital in Delray Beach, Judith was helping communities in North Carolina enjoy the game of tennis. She started Masters Tennis in various locations, which uses an orange ball and the court regulations for that color ball.

When she moved to Florida, she worked closely with the Community Coordinator of Broward County to bring that to tons of places across South Florida. Her efforts have helped expand access to tennis among players of all levels.

Judith has also been a key volunteer at plenty of tennis events over the past decade. She has given her support to numerous events, including the Delray Beach Open, Billie Jean King Cup, Autistic tennis training camps, and a whole lot more.

In 2023, Judith earned the gold award certificate for hours worked in the USTA Florida booth at the Delray Beach Open, which is a huge milestone for volunteers.

“She is always willing and able to volunteer in various roles including events like the Delray Beach Open and the Special Olympics,” one of her peers said. “Judith is a massive asset to our community.”

Judith finds happiness in giving back to her community through volunteering. “It gives me an opportunity to meet new people from all over,” she said. “It allows me to develop new relationships with others who I eventually play tennis with. I also have lots of fun and am doing worthwhile work for the community.”

She has been a massive blessing for the city of Delray Beach and her commitment to making a positive impact extends far beyond the tennis courts.

As USTA Florida’s March Volunteer of the Month, the organization thanks Judith as she dedicates her free time to growing grassroot tennis and helping events run smoothly. Her passion ensures everyone has the chance to enjoy the game of tennis.
