Orange County’s Carol DaSilva named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month
If you have ever played in an USTA Florida tournament, then you most certainly have passed by the tournament desk. Whether to report scores or double check what court you are on, this is where you’ll likely find Volunteer Ace, Carol DaSilva.
Born in Idaho Falls, DaSilva has been around tennis for most of her life and for the last four years she has dedicated her time to volunteering. DaSilva has done a ton for USTA Florida in Orange County, whether it’s serving at the tournament desk, helping with check-ins, or handing out awards to participants at sectionals.
She loves tennis so much, so giving back to the community is the least she can do. “Everyone associated with the events have been such a joy to work alongside,” DaSilva recalled. “The excitement and challenge of the tournaments keep me coming back.”
Throughout her four years of volunteering at events, DaSilva has always made sure to spread good vibes and happiness with everyone that crosses her path. “It is so great to share the love of tennis with so many people.”
Even her peers see the amount of hard work she has put in and couldn’t speak higher of her actions. “She has volunteered in a multitude of roles ranging from Front Desk Volunteer to Check-In Volunteer to Awards Volunteers and has executed her role flawlessly.”
DaSilva has shined in every position that she has volunteered for, and she’s even become a key element to making sure that weekend tournaments run smoothly. “Carol has become an integral part of our team for all of our sectional championships and always does it with a great attitude and a smile.”
USTA Florida thanks and congratulates Carol DaSilva as the USTA Florida Volunteer of the Month for July 2022 as a tournament volunteer organizing tennis and promoting positivity among the community in Orange County.

My earliest tennis memory was… “The Battle of the Sexes”
If I could play tennis with three people, they would be… “Roger Federer, Billie Jean King, Naomi Osaka”
When I’m not playing tennis I am… “Cooking!”
My best tennis memory is… “All my best memories involve the people who play tennis. They are kind and welcoming. Every time my family had to move, I knew I would be able to find a great community of tennis players. All I would have to do is find a tennis clinic. Instantly, I would have a big group of friends helping me settle into a new city.”
I like to volunteer in tennis because… “I love the sport and want others to love it.”
