The Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation, an official USTA Florida Community Tennis Association located in Vero Beach, this week announced $43,943 in grants awarded from their summer 2019 grant cycle.
Eight youth programs were funded through Kids on Court and Kids in Motion grants. Kids on Court grantees were LOTA Sports, Hope For Families, Daisy Hope Bridgewater Center, and the Gifford Youth Achievement Center.
Kids in Motion grantees were Indian River Golf Foundation, McKee Botanical Gardens, Crossover Mission, and Lady Indian Basketball.
Approximately 2,300 children will be participating in eight programs funded by the MFCF. Each awardee program has a common thread of health, fitness and nutrition. Kids on Courts and Kids in Motion are designed to help schools and community-based organizations to initiate, expand or enhance their existing physical education, nutrition or enrichment programs.
Each awarded organization is required to complete a program evaluation capturing goals, outcomes and students reached. Recipients are also asked to incorporate the foundation’s “Six Healthy Habits” into their programming.
Founded in 2007, the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation programs provided a safe environment for children to participate in such activities as tennis, dance, gardening, sports and art. Currently MFCF supports over 2,200 children in 15 elementary schools, six middle schools, and two after-school centers in Indian River County in Florida.
