Mal Washington Youth Tennis Foundation in Jacksonville Receives $10,000 Grant
Longtime US Open sponsor Chase for the fourth year will award 10 National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) after-school tennis chapters with a $10,000 grant each. The funding will go toward year-round tennis and education programming that engages kids in the A.C.E. curriculum (Academic Creative Engagement).
The MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation in Jacksonville, Fla., is a recipient, and on July 14 will host a “Return The Serve Fun Day” to celebrate the chapter’s programming and its impact on youth. The tennis center in the challenged Durkeville residential neighborhood near downtown Jacksonville will host a variety of tennis-related activities for the youth participants of the NJTL programs, along with their families.
In addition the events will include a check presentation to the NJTL chapter leaders by a local Chase representative.
“Chase has been an outstanding supporter and partner of the USTA Foundation, and we can’t thank them enough for these generous grants,” said Dan Faber, executive director, USTA Foundation. “We are fortunate to have Chase continue to invest in our participants on and off the tennis court. Our partnership with Chase helps deserving youth to excel academically, through tennis, and ultimately through life.”
Chase has sponsored the US Open for 36 years.
“It’s important that we equip our kids with the skills they need to succeed at a young age, most importantly through education and physical activity,” said Barbara Paddock, managing director for sports and entertainment at JPMorgan Chase.
