Golden Tickets Secured at Singles 18+, 40+, 55+ NTRP Sectional Championships

Adult Tennis News

Seeing gold was the only thing on every competitor’s mind as they took the courts at the NTRP Singles 18+, 40+, and 55+ Sectional Championship. Over 200 athletes participated in the tournament in Tampa and Plantation, with matches coming down to the wire.

All divisions competed in a round robin, and those that had more than four players were fighting to advance to a playoff flight. Winners for divisions with four or less players were decided by the athlete that finished with the best record in the round robin.

As the final serves were aced and the volleys ended, champions were crowned. Winners and finalists from the NTRP Singles Sectional Championship earned a Golden Ticket, an auto bid to the National Championship. This will take place in April, where winners from the Doubles competition, in February, will join them on the biggest stage.

If you missed out on the sectional championship, there is still a chance for you to qualify for the National Championship. Players that are ranked on the national player list can register for Nationals in their respective division. The two highest-ranked players that register before the registration deadline will be granted access to the tournament. Entry will only be accepted if the endorsed players, those who finished first and second in the Sectional Championship, do not participate in the National event. If you have any questions, visit the USTA website.

If you want to play in the NTRP Doubles Sectional Championship, then register now! The closing date is January 29, so don’t miss this chance to play some high level tennis and compete for a National Championship. Doubles is in February while the Mixed Doubles event is happening in March, that registration deadline is February 19.

Check out which players secured their Golden Ticket and will be playing for a National title in April!
