Five Teams Secure National Bid With Win at Tri-Level and Mixed 55 & Over Sectionals
USTA Florida hosted another Sectional Championship, as Tri-Level and Mixed competition took center stage at the USTA National Campus. There was a sense of excitement in the air as players from across the state converged for a weekend of thrilling matches and spirited fun.
The sectional championship showcased the diverse talent within the USTA Florida community, with players of varying levels engaging in Tri-Level and Adult Mixed matches.
Tri-Level League is a doubles format designed to create a unique opportunity by combining players of differing NTRP levels on teams in local competition. Teams advance through Sectional Championships, and winners of those earn a bid to the National Championships.
There was also Mixed 55 & Over play, where the competition was fierce. Mixed play consists of two people, one man and one woman, combines their rating, and matches them against other players who have the same added up rating. It’s a fun way to see tennis played as different skillsets mesh to create the ultimate pair.
Winners of each division qualified for the 2023 USTA League Tom Fey Tri-Level National Invitational, which is being held on March 7-11, 2024, at the Barnes Tennis Center & Balboa Tennis Club in San Diego, California.
Victorious teams in the Mixed 55 and Over division received an automatic bid to the 2023 Mixed 55 & Over National Invitational, which takes place March 22-24, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
