Due to popular demand by teams and individuals, registration for the first-ever USTA Florida Blacklight OVERNIGHT adult team tennis XGLOsive event in Naples, Fla., on Feb. 9-10, 2019 has been reopened and extended until Jan. 11.
“We’ve received several requests over the holidays from players and teams wanting to participate,” says organizer and USTA Florida Local League Coordinator Trish DiPalo. “The all-night tournament will kick off with a sunset dinner and opening celebration, and teams can enjoy midnight snacks, a cash bar, and breakfast all while great music plays in a high-energy atmosphere.”
Rules are modified to level the playing field, and teams will play a minimum of nine matches in a 10-point tiebreak-style tournament that will run all night on three black-light powered courts.
Players can register as a team or individually as free-agents to form a team with other free-agents. The cost for individuals is $50 and USTA Florida will match you up with a team. The one-of-a-kind adult team tennis event will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, and conclude at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 at the famed Sanchez-Casal Academia in Naples. USTA membership is not required.
Full teams of 4-6 players can register for $300, and for all players discounted hotel rooms are available and with a late check-out time of 2 p.m. so players have the option to book only one hotel night on Saturday if they prefer. The winning squad when the sun rises on Sunday, Feb. 10 will receive $1,000.
