Coral Gables’ Fernando Salazar Named PTR Florida Member of the Year

Fernando Salazar of Coral Gables, Fla., has been named PTR Member of the Year for the state. The award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.  Salazar is a certified professional in two PTR education pathways.

Professional Tennis Registry will present its annual awards next week during the 2018 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, will be held Feb. 13-16, on Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Salazar is the founder and co-owner of Passion for Tennis, the only indoor tennis facility in South Florida open to the public. An experienced aviation consultant and entrepreneur, Salazar has had a passion for tennis since age 4, and was one of the top junior players in his native Colombia.

He earned his degree in business administrator from CESA in Colombia, and later an MBA from Mercer University.  He has spent the last 13 years in the aviation industry, while simultaneously remaining actively involved in tennis. A PTR Junior Development Specialist, Salazar and is part of the Wilson National Advisory Team.
