USTA Florida Adult Leagues have more than 60,000 participants throughout the state and with all these players, there is a need for great captains. Veronica Wank, a longtime league captain has been named USTA Florida’s Volunteer of the Month, recognizing her outstanding contributions to Adult League tennis in Broward County.

As a USTA Florida Adult League Captain for over 15 years, Veronica has shown exceptional dedication to the sport and her community, fostering a love for tennis among players of all ages and skill levels.

Throughout her years as a league captain, Veronica’s greatest achievement has not only been the success of her teams on the court but also the relationships she has made from tennis. “My best achievement has been creating friendships and good character groups of ladies with my teammates,” she said. “I also have enjoyed winning leagues, sectionals, and going to Nationals.” Her leadership has created a supportive and fun environment, ensuring that tennis remains an enjoyable and integral part of their lives.

Her peers have recognized this and are thankful to have her representing Broward and supporting hundreds of players. “Veronica has captained many different teams in many different ages and types. Her success rate is outstanding considering all the championship plaques her teams have won that outline the fences in our club,” a Frank Veltri Tennis Center spokesperson said. “She is very popular, and many players wish to play for her because of her fairness and leadership qualities.”

Off the court, Veronica is giving back to her community, but in a different way. She is a teacher, dedicating her days to educating and inspiring the future leaders of the country. In addition to her work in the classroom, Veronica extends her passion for tennis to the next generation by teaching the sport to kids. Her commitment to education in both the classroom and on the courts is evident and she’s truly inspiring.

Volunteering in tennis is something Veronica genuinely loves. “I like to volunteer in tennis because I like to socialize with people through the sport,” she said. Veronica’s dedication to tennis, both as a player and a volunteer, embodies the spirit of USTA Florida’s mission to promote and develop the sport across the state.

USTA Florida is grateful for Veronica Wank’s commitment to education and organizing tennis for all ages and skills. As USTA Florida’s August Volunteer of the Month, the organization congratulates Veronica and is excited to see her continue impacting the future of the sport in a positive way.
