Broward County’s Bob Long named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month
USTA Florida is happy to honor Bob Long as the July Volunteer of the Month, highlighting his dedication to community tennis and growing the game.
Bob has made a career out of tennis. He currently is the Director of Tennis at Wynmoor Tennis Club in Coconut Creek and has been a valuable volunteer impacting the community.
For over seven years, Bob has been volunteering throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. Whether it’s organizing events, assisting with coaching certifications, or promoting tennis through various channels, Bob’s passion for the game and its community shines through.
His volunteer efforts extend to various tennis-related programs, including the Delray Beach Open, Special Olympics, and many other initiatives. His commitment to the sport and its growth is clear with his in his continuous participation in Community Coaches Trainings and local tennis communities.
Volunteering is important to the tennis ecosystem and many events can’t be run without the support of volunteers. Bob loves to volunteer and said it’s one of his best joys in life. “It gives me satisfaction to interact with like-minded people and possibly influences them to get in the game or stay in the game,” he said.
One of Bob’s most cherished tennis memories is passing his first on-court certification test to teach tennis. This has opened the door for him to share the sport with so many others. Bob loves to put a smile on someone’s face as he shared the fundamentals of tennis.
USTA Florida is grateful for Bob Long’s dedication and tireless efforts to promote and support tennis in the community. As USTA Florida’s July Volunteer of the Month, the organization is grateful for Bob’s support in growing the game in South Florida.
