Broward County’s Steffi Paskow named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month

Volunteer Aces Faces of Florida Tennis General News Volunteer Of The Month

For the past two years, Steffi Paskow has been a dedicated League Captain at the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center, leading 3.0 USTA Florida Adult League teams in both the 18 & Over as well as the 40 & Over age groups.

Steffi’s love for tennis began at age 12 when she surprised her older sisters with her skill during friendly matches. Coming from a competitive family, she quickly fell in love with the sport, which she describes as more than just a game but a way to connect, promote health, and encourage personal growth.

When Steffi first took on the role as captain, her team faced challenges, often finishing in the lower half of the standings, but she saw their potential and made it her mission to create an environment where everyone could thrive. From organizing weekly round-robin practices to coordinating professional coaching sessions, she ensured her players had opportunities to improve their skills and grow together. Her efforts also extended to recruiting new players, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to the team.

Steffi’s hard work and commitment paid off this year when her team achieved a major milestone, where they finished second in their league for the first time.

Off the courts, Steffi treasures the friendships formed with her players, who have become a close group supporting one another in everything they do.

“I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come,” Steffi said. “The most rewarding part of this journey has been the friendships we’ve built and truly embodying the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.”

As a volunteer, Steffi goes above and beyond to keep her team and local players engaged. She shares information about tennis events, helps players find partners, and connects them to opportunities like charity tournaments and local competitions. Her dedication stems from a passion for bringing people together and watching them grow through tennis.

“Tennis allows me to give back to a community that shares my enthusiasm for the sport,” she said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see players gain confidence, improve their skills, and form lasting friendships.”

For her exceptional leadership, tireless efforts, and positive impact on the tennis community, USTA Florida is proud to recognize Steffi Paskow as the December Volunteer of the Month.
