Boca Raton, Jacksonville to Host Alternative-Format Tennis Tournaments

Two alternative-format tennis tournaments will offer players in North and South Florida the opportunity to experience competition in unique fast-paced one-day formats:

July 30 — Deerwood CC’s Fast 4 Dubs, Deerwood Country Club, Jacksonville

Fast 4 features a shorter-set scoring format with no-ad game scoring. Entries close on July 22. For more info click here.

Aug. 6 — Boca Raton One-Day Tiebreaker Tournament, Patch Reef Park, Boca Raton

Tiebreak Tournaments feature 10-point tiebreak matches. NTRP divisions are men’s singles 3.0-5.0 and women’s singles 3.5-4.5. Entries close on Aug. 3. For more info go click here.

Alternative-format events such as Tiebreak Tournaments, Fast4, and One-on-One Doubles offer players a chance to play competitively in one-day and abbreviated tournaments rather than giving up an entire weekend.

“The main reasons why players enjoy these alternative format events are shorter duration of event and lower cost,” says USTA Florida Director of Competitive Tennis Jason Gilbert. “The entry fees are significantly lower for one-day events, with fees ranging from $15 to $30.”
