2023 Fall Junior Team Tennis Season Set to Brighten Future of Sport
As the summer heat rolls down and the leaves, hopefully, start to change color, USTA Florida welcomes in the 2023 Fall Junior Team Tennis Season (JTT)! This is one of the best opportunities in the entire state for the youth to get involved with tennis and teach them that the game is far more than an individual sport.
For new participants and families that are unsure what JTT is, it provides kids from ages 6-18 an opportunity to play on compatible teams of similar age and skill levels. With beginner all the way to advanced levels, JTT is a great program for all kids that want to get involved or stay active in the sport. Green ball is available for 12 and under divisions and below, while yellow ball is available for anyone competing in the 12 and under divisions or above.
The JTT season is one of the most exciting across the state as hundreds of junior tennis players take the court in competitive, but fun matches. As September is approaching, many of these leagues are getting ready to kick off, but don’t worry, you can still sign up your children to play in one of the 19 locations that JTT is being offered. USTA Florida offers leagues in the following areas:
- Brevard County
- Broward County
- Duval/St. Johns Counties
- Escambia/Santa Rosa Counties
- Fort Walton Beach/Okaloosa Counties
- Hillsborough County
- Martin/St. Lucie Counties
- Miami-Dade County
- Orange/Seminole Counties
- Palm Beach County
- Palm Beach HS
- Pinellas County
- Volusia/Flagler Counties
USTA Florida Youth Play Coordinator in Brevard County, Brett Keener, is thrilled for the new season, as it is one of the county’s most successful programs for developing young players’ skills. “The local competition has served as a launch pad for our players to gain the confidence to compete in higher level events outside of our county,” he said. “The Brevard high school players who have participated in JTT over the years have had increased success in their district, regional, and state tournaments.”
Leagues are getting ready to start and spots are filling up fast. Make sure you register as quickly as possible to participate in the 2023 Fall JTT Season.
For the top performing teams in each region, the 2023 Fall JTT State Championship will be held at the Florida Tennis Center, in Daytona Beach, on December 9 and 10. In the spring, USTA Florida gathered more than 30 teams to compete for the Spring State Championship, and the talent on display was unreal.
Tennis is one of the fastest growing sports not only in Florida, but globally, and JTT is one of the best programs the state has to offer. Tennis is way more than an individual sport, and what better way to teach that to the future of tennis, than in JTT. Children will develop their game, compete in a competitive environment, learn about sportsmanship, and have a blast while doing it.
